## Platforms

- macOS: macOS 14 or later. Universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Default shortcut Option+Space.

Superwhisper is not macOS only: Windows, iPhone and Android apps are all available today.

- Free: $0, does not expire. Unlimited dictation with local Whisper models, custom vocabulary and replacements. Superwhisper Meetings (Mac only) is included on Free and Pro.
- Free trial of Pro: the first 3,000 words use all Pro features. After that the app falls back to Free. Nothing is deleted.
- Pro: $8.49 per month, $84.99 per year, or $249.99 one time (lifetime). Prices are for purchases on superwhisper.com; App Store and Google Play prices are higher.
- Pro adds: cloud models, Parakeet and Cohere Transcribe local models, AI modes (rewriting and formatting), file transcription, translation to English, bring your own API keys, priority support.

## Offline and local models

- Local speech models run on your device, so audio does not leave the machine for transcription.
- Whisper models (Tiny through Large v3 Turbo): free, macOS, Windows and iPhone.
- Parakeet (English, and a 24-language version) and Cohere Transcribe (14 languages): Pro, on Apple Silicon Macs, Windows and iPhone.
- S1-mini: a small local language model for cleanup in Message and Mail modes, English only, macOS and Windows.
- Intel Macs: Parakeet and Cohere are not available; cloud models are recommended.
- Windows: Whisper Large v3 Turbo and Cohere use a Vulkan GPU. Parakeet Multilanguage runs without one. On Windows ARM, Parakeet Multilanguage is the local option.
- Cloud models are also available: S1-Voice and S1-Language (Superwhisper's own), Deepgram Nova, ElevenLabs Scribe, and language models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Groq.
- Languages: 100+ with S1-Voice and multilingual Whisper models.

## Setup

- No account and no API key needed. The default setup uses Superwhisper's cloud models and works right after install.
- macOS asks for microphone and Accessibility permission (to type into other apps), then a shortcut and a test recording.
- Windows asks for language, model and microphone; the defaults work.
- iPhone: enable the Superwhisper keyboard and turn on Full Access in iOS Settings.
- Android: microphone, display over other apps for the floating bubble, and optionally accessibility.

## Privacy and data

- Recordings are saved on your device by default so you can replay or reprocess them. macOS: ~/superwhisper/recordings. Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\com.superwhisper.app\recordings.
- You can set "Keep recordings for" to delete them automatically after 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 months or 1 year. The default is Forever. You can also delete recordings by hand.
- Superwhisper does not store your audio or transcripts on its servers and does not train on them.
- Cloud transcription and AI providers are used through API agreements with zero data retention terms. Custom vocabulary words are sent along with the audio to cloud providers as hints.
- What Superwhisper keeps on its servers: email, billing records, license and device activation, and organization data for Enterprise. Optional usage analytics for Enterprise are off by default.
- Bring-your-own API keys on macOS and Windows are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM for Pro users.
- Account deletion: email support; completed within 30 days.
